HDMI cable used for transmission of digital data

HDMI is also known as High-Definition Multimedia Interface, and HDMI cable is used for transmission of digital data in uncompressed manner.  HDMI cable acts as the digital alternative to consumer analog standards. Some of the consumer analog standards are Radio Frequency (RF) co axial cable, composite video, SCART, s video and VGA. HDMI cable establishes the connection between digital audio and video sources — like set-top boxes, Blue-ray Disc players, video game consoles (such as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360),  personal computers (PCs) and AV receivers.
A single cable HDMI are capable to offer support to any TV or PC video format, which includes standard, improved, and high-definition video; that has up to 8 channels of digital audio; with a Consumer Electronics Control or more precise to say CEC connection. The CEC allows HDMI cable and other HDMI devices to control each other when required and allows the user to control multiple devices with one remote control handset. As HDMI cable is electrically compatible with the signals utilized by Digital Visual Interface or DVI, there is no signal conversion is necessary, neither there is any loss of video quality when a DVI to HDMI adapter is used. There is no specific cable length of HDMI; however, there is no maximum limit of cable length has been mentioned. Due to signal attenuation, there are chances of making an upper limit about the length of HDMI cable. The length of a HDMI cable is primarily depends on the construction quality and the materials used.
