Re:Parent-time phone calls per week - 2007/10/22 23:13 "My ex and her Lawyer said the 2 phone calls at specified days for 15 minutes each maximum per week is a reasonable interperation of the 30-3-33,35."

For starters, I am not a lawyer. Nothing herein constitutes legal advice. It's merely the opinion of a concerned father...

Is this the only contact they're offering you? If so then they're not being "reasonable" at all - they're abusing your daughter to screw you. Read the Utah State code for minimum visitation yourself at http://le.utah.gov/~code/TITLE30/htm/30_03046.htm. That is in person time and also adds phone time.

In any case, phone time may be better than no time at all. Then again, to a six year old whose mother could put her in front of a television during your conversation, a phone conversation could be more of a nuisance to her than a pleasure.

Kids need significant, close, in-person time with both fit loving parents. The law doesn't understand that enough and judges understand that less. But then there is man's law and then there is "god's law". Gandhi's legacy teaches that we have a moral duty to disobey unjust laws. Too bad that we can not all live up to this guidance. Understand at least that our constitutional rights only apply when we are brave enough to tolerate nothing less.

Good luck to you and your daughter.
